This has always been one of my favorite quotes.
Why? I’m not exactly sure. What does it mean to be a wanderer anyways? Do any of us really ever know what we are looking for? And even if we do, the journey always matters more than the destination. Sure, you’ve heard that one before.
But start trying to live by it. Instead of only having the destination of CVS in mind when you are on an errand to buy milk, take a look instead at the two children holding hands on their way home from 3rd grade, in love but not knowing quite what love is yet. Look at the mailman, who knew what he wanted to do ever since he would accompany his father on mail deliveries as a little kid. Look even at the cracks in the sidewalk. Think about the thousands of kids in the sidewalk’s lifetime who used all mental capacity to not “step on a crack and break their mother’s back.”
Milk is the destination. Life is the journey. So wander and get lost and that is totally okay. I promise you, it will be worth it.
